The Best People or The Right People?

Ever wonder if the best people happen to also be the right people? As we hope, no one can be everything, despite our best efforts. In a situation, a person could only be one of the two.

As we cannot be both, this will lead us to make our own choice. Respectfully, life is about choice.

If you could only strive to be one, then who would you strive to be?

If the person you are looking for can only be one, then who will you choose?

This article is about understanding people, not about professions. Hence, the person could be the best or the right people, regardless of his or her profession.

         The understanding

         Who we are

         Who should join you?

The understanding

The best people are those who excel at what they do. The best people are defined by their capabilities.

For example, the best graphic designer, the best lawyer, the best human resource manager, and so on.

The right people are those who share a common cause, common values, or common beliefs with you. The right people are defined by their character.

For example, the right co-worker, the right partner, the right customer, and so forth.

With no right or wrong, the best people are generally a popular choice, while the right people are more of a personal choice.

Can you identify who is the best or right person in your life right now?

Who we are

The best people are the product of the system; specifically, they have been taught to believe and strive to be the best that they should be.

The best people do so in the form of comparison, as they compete directly or indirectly in everything from school to the work environment. Comparison exists in the form of grades, scores, rankings, charts, etc. It's always there.

The result? Some became the best at what they did, and some did not.

This is because when there is competition, there will be comparison; when there is comparison, there will always be a winner and a non-winner.

The best people are encouraged to succeed, but discouraged from failing.

The best people were told that they should not fail, as they were punished for failures, all to discourage them from failing again.

For example, being told that if they fail their grade, they will have no bright future is a form of punishment in itself, especially for children.

With the system's competitive nature, it's no surprise that it tends to produce the best workers in every field, but unfortunately, not everyone can win at what they do.

The right people are the product of morals, ethics, and benevolence from significant others, such as a parent, teacher, spouse, peer, sibling, friend, or someone important.

The right people are those who have been taught character first and capability second.

The right people are moulded by collaboration, as first and foremost they have been taught to be involved, to take responsibility, and to give their all.

They ought to have fun and be encouraged to just give their all, all without the pressure of grades, scores, rankings, charts, etc.

Yes, for the right people, comparison is indeed a second thought.

The stark contrast is that the right people are encouraged to fail, as they are told that if they fail, they should get back up and try again.

As a result, often we see that the right people are those who enjoy what they do, and often they do not do it all alone.

The right people understand the existence of others. They tend to collaborate with others to achieve even greater things.

The right people neither compete nor compare, but better themselves. They understand they just need to be 1% better than they were yesterday.

Who should join you?

Should you find the best people or the right people to join you?

The best people seek to win something, and the right people seek to advance something.

For the best people, their performance, and capabilities will define them.

Others will remember the best people for what they do.

The best people strive for results; they are disciplined and willing to pay a great price to get there.

For the right people, their cause, values, and beliefs will define them.

Others will remember the right people for what they do for them.

The right people are the ones who value the journey. They believe joy is the most important factor in order to go far and appreciate good company.

The right people might not be the most capable, but they are the ones who always have your back.

Imagine this: would you want the best partner or the right partner? Would you rather hire the best employee or the right employee?

To put it in context, would you want to marry the lovely man or the man who loves you? Would you want to hire the most capable accountant or the accountant whose goals aligned with your company's?

Ideally, of course, we would want both the best and the right, but we should understand which is of the utmost importance.

In summary, would you choose a capable person or a trustworthy person?

You have your answer.

the best people or the right people
